But the quirkyness of the top, the autoshutoff that turns of if the caraffe is bumped even slightly, the poor quality of all the plastic parts and the small hard to read controls (other than the ON) button should not occur in a maker that is this costly.I am really dissapointed. Capresso has certainly lost me as a customer. Really bad design. The plastic parts are VERY underdesigned and are not of the quality that the costs of this maker should deliver. The maker also is messy - dumping grounds into the brewed coffee and the reservior if you make it too strong. I had to prove to them that I bought it through a retailer that they approved (which I did - but through an on-line site)In both cases the top has broken - trivial parts that make the unit inoperative. I've had it replaced under warantee once and the new unit has just broken. I've owned this maker for over a year now. Capresso was hard to deal with for the warrantee repair as well. Coffee seems to get everywhere on the top cover and all areas under the top cover.Overall the quaility of the brew is ok.
) ( where as the Cuisinart has a system that flows through the lid and seals itself, and you never have to unscrew it to pour). The problem lies in the way the coffee flows through to the pot. So the long and short of it is that I haven't found one that is perfect.Summary-- if you like your coffee HOT you're going to have to drink it within an hour or so or nuke it. Takes 11 minutes to brew2.
Overall good machine.PS- Machine is pretty but large (looks kind of like a nuclear silo. Once it's brewed you have to twist the lid to seal in the heat. Produces hot coffee, but unlike my old Cuisinart (which kept the coffee HOT for 4-6 hours) this one gives you about an hour. This coffee maker makes great coffee, but has a few flaws.1. This is really my chief complaint about this machine.
However the Cuisinart has spill over problems because of this design also.
I have used the higher end Cuisinart machines, and I think they're worthless. Trust me, I'm picky about defects and these are extremely minor. I would rather buy a 20 dollar Mr. It's been by far the best machine I've ever owned. But, for a machine that brews great coffee and keeps it hot, this Capresso is hard to beat. This machine's coffee is terrific and it's a gorgeous and feature rich coffee maker.
Coffee, which I think makes far better coffee than anything Cuisinart has put out. I purchased this from Amazon over a year ago, when it was on sale for around 90 dollars. It has some minor flaws, the pot pulls away from the base- which requires that you put something behind it when brewing- and the lid occasionally opens before brewing is finished, but both of these flaws are easy to take care of and have not affected my user experience. I have returned two models that I've purchased because the coffee they make is never hot enough and the amount of coffee they require to brew a pot is completely absurd.
B. This coffee maker looks awesome, I've had many conversations about it's sleek. MOST importantly - it makes a damn good cup of coffee. Ok so I read many of the reviews complaining about this coffee maker but in the end caught a good sale and bought it. Yes its a bit finicky, and yes it takes some getting use to, but here's the low down: A. It's a Capresso - a high quality machine, the carafe stays hot for a long time, have drunk 2 hours after brewing and it still came out steaming, C.
I realize that human error accentuated a possible design weakness, but they backed up their product anyway and convinced me to be a Capresso buyer again.I will seal this unit around the base this time just in case I forget to open the spout again before brewing. They told me the unit had been discontinued but offered to send me a NEW unit of the same model pre paid with an exchange label for my unit. Before this the unit made EXCELLENT coffee. I thanked them profusely. The unit overflowed when I neglected to fully open the carafe before starting the brewing cycle.
Good customer service needs to be praised and this unit made great coffee. I called customer service and explained to them what I think happened. This caused the unit to overflow and have hot coffee run down the sides. I have had this unit less than two weeks. The hot coffee seeped into the black plastic molding around the bottom of the stainless steel tank of the main structure resulting in the electrical system malfunctioning. It was my fault.
They told me that they would be able to do this since they still had some new units of this now discontinued model on hand.
